Rock, Paper,Skincare

As I scroll through social media, I see so many and reels for alluring skincare products. So many products. I love viewing them and they open the imagination and I hope that by using them I will improve my skin health and appearance and deter aging. Perhaps one thinks that by using the right products and taking the right vitamins as seen on social media, one will find the Holy Grail of skincare. As we grow older we see that that the Aphrodite and Aglaia goddesses of immortal beauty are only in Greek mythology, but lifelong beauty at every age is attainable. However, with so many options and promises, how does one choose?

I am now 59 and I promise you that I have tried many, many skincare products since I was sixteen, looking to preserve and amp up the appearance of my skin. When I was young my cousin Lynn introduced me to Clinique face soap and their Dramatically Different moisturizer. After that, as a young girl, I remember many trips to Green Hills Mall and Belle Meade Plaza in Nashville, where I would scour the makeup and skincare counters and sampling, with fascination, the many products offered.

I didn’t realize the importance of these jaunts to the mall as a teen, but I was setting the stage for a life long love of skincare and skincare routine. The products I have tried and used over the years have changed from time to time, depending on my skin’s needs, curiosity, and the evolution of new skincare. Yet the daily ritual of caring for my skin has been consistent throughout my life. For those just becoming aware of good skincare later in life, it is never too late to start a skincare regimen. Our skin is resilient and will respond positively at any age.

I have been asked what products do I use. I am always excited to share what I find that works. I have kept an open mind and my personal products continue to evolve as I discover new effective products.

During the day I cleanse my skin with Erno Laszlo Brightening Cleansing Oil, I thendampen a cotton pad with water, squeeze it out, and apply Biologique Recherche P50 1970. I let this dry and apply Darphin Inner Youth Rescue Serum. After that I apply SkinCeuticals Hydrating B-5 Gel and over everything I apply Elle Landon® Big Pink Moisturizer, and I pat on Elle Landon® Face Oil. Lastly, I apply Goop’s Unseen Sunscreen.

At night I wash my face and apply Biologique Recherche P50 1970. I alternate nights with Retin-A or Perricone Overnight Cream. I then apply SkinCeuticals Resveratrol, and top that with Elle Landon@ Sleepy Jean Cream, Elle Landon® Big Pink and pat with Elle Landon face oil to seal everything. I believe no matter what new and exciting finds that you may use on your skin now or in the future, it is always important to drench your face with moisture.

Many people are willing to spend a great deal of money on clothes but skimp on their skincare. My philosophy is that if you have to choose between expensive clothes or quality effective skincare, opt for skincare every time. Your future self will thank you.
